Jake is a half Greek-half Mexican house DJ who lives in England. Born in Mexico City, he moved to Athens when he was thirteen. Like many other Djs, his passion for house music was ignited when he first started going out clubbing. Always being the first one and the last one to leave the club with his friends, he soon realized that the eight hours of house music he was exposed to were simply not enough. Hunting down the tracks that his favourite Djs were spinning quickly became a habit. After building an extensive record collection, he was asked by a friend to come and play some tunes at the Splash Beach Bar in the Greek island of Naxos. Fresh out of his military service in the summer of 2003, it was here where he was bitten by the Dj bug. That same summer, Jake caught the attention of DJ Francesco, the owner of the trendy Lemon Lounge Bar. He went on to secure residencies at both of these venues which have the reputation for showcasing the best of underground house music. The opportunity to share his love of house music to appreciative crowds along with the support from the renowned guest Djs that graced these venues was a thrilling experience. Always playing to the mood of the crowds, his style is varied. You will catch him spinning everything from deep, jazzy and soulful house to more pumping tribal/tech and progressive beats. The success of his own night: SOL – The Spirit of Love which he promotes at the Slug & Lettuce along with his residency at Bath Spa University has gained him recognition as an up and coming DJ. Besides being featured on the Daily West Press and the BBC, Jake Gabai has also been a Guest DJ at important events such as New Year’s Eve and Bank Holiday weekends at the Slug & Lettuce . He has also graced the decks of established venues such as Revolution Bar, RSVP, London’s Egg Club, Bristol’s Lacota Club & The East End Festival. The future for Jake Gabai looks promising. With his popular web radio show: Sun Set Sessions on DarkFM.com every Monday along with his residency in Greece coming up in September he has proved that he has what it takes to succeed in the industry. His ambitious and charismatic personality has played an important role in elevating his status. This has led him to win crowds over with his charm and exquisite music selection.
